Valentines Day 2013 and Spokane

Valentines Day 2013 and Spokane

So we are quickly approaching Valentines Day and I’m reflecting on a recent date night I had with my husband, Jonathan.  We went on a fitness date night getting all hot and sweaty at Spokane Boot Camp.  My friend Whitney is an awesome instructor who whips you into shape.  I have regularly attended the class but it was a first for my husband.  I have to give him props, he did great!  Afterwards, our dinner at Waddell’s Neighborhood Pub and Grill was amazing.  Our burgers, fries, and beer went down with very little guilt; we really felt we had earned every single morsel.

If you’re interested in kicking it up a notch on your next date night, check out the classes at Spokane Boot Camp. They offer 3 free classes to all new attendees so you’ve got nothing to lose (except extra pounds and stress).

An idea for Valentines Day dinner with your sweetie is the Melting Pot.  This is a different dining experience.  Be prepared to take your time, indulge your taste buds, and dip into some excellent fondue!  Choose from a variety of menu options, including gluten free, to tailor your dipping adventure.  Call very soon to make reservations as they’re almost booked up now.  They have a special Valentines Day menu for the evening, their signature 4 course meal.  Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

If you’re not down for the Melting Pot try one of my other favorites.  For an authentic Moroccan experience try Marrakesh Restaurant off of Division, near Gonzaga University.  You’ll sit on tufted cushions, have your hands washed at the beginning of the meal, and eat some scrumptious, delicious food.

If you’re in the mood for great Asian food try Gordy’s Sichuan Café on the South Hill.  As one TripAdvisor reviewer put it “NO deep fried chicken chunks in gooey gravy here”.  The quality of food at Gordy’s cannot be underestimated; it is phenomenal!

Of course there’s the all time classic Clinkerdagger’s in the historic Flour Mill Building.  Here you sit as close as you can get without getting wet on the Spokane River.  The ambiance and history here make this a special place to venture to.

Last on this blog list, but certainly not least, is one of my all time favorite places to eat: Catacombs Pub.  Located in the cellar of the historic Montvale Hotel, this restaurant has a dark, medieval décor and feel.  A fun place to eat and don’t leave without trying their Iron Skillet Cookie dessert; it’s served warm and gooey.  Scrumptious!

I’ll leave you with what is sure to be a great conversation starter for your Valentines Day date or co-workers at the water cooler; some interesting facts about this wonderful area we call home.  These were taken from the website Experience Spokane.  Wander to their site for even more cool information.  Look for more fun Spokane tidbits in my upcoming blog posts!
