For those of you who don't know me, I have just returned from a vacation to sunny Southern California. I absolutely fell in love with California! (This was only my second time visiting this amazing state!) One of the things that made it great was that it was completely different from Spokane! I love Spokane don’t get me wrong, but it was the differences that helped to create such a memorable experience.
I loved the palm trees and flowering tropical plants. I loved the green manicured lawns and trees full of leaves. Quite different than the snow covered brown grass and leafless trees we left behind. There were major architectural differences in the style of homes. The houses that I saw were largely stucco walled with tile roofs; a perfect mix for the environment there.
Another obvious big difference is the traffic. We flew into LAX and from there hopped on a shuttle bus to Anaheim which was about 45 minutes SE of the airport. As a passenger on this ride, I noticed a lot of BMW's driving around LA. Also there was a noticeable absence of Subaru’s which is in stark contrast to Spokane. Also, I didn't see very many old "clunker" cars. Everyone seemed to have a new vehicle.
What was absolutely inconceivable, were the amount of people who call the Greater Los Angeles area their home. I mean the cities, freeways, and cars just kept on going and going and going! Amidst all of this traffic and business there was an energy that was exciting to witness. I probably wouldn't find it exciting if the freeways and traffic were apart of my daily routine, and yet it was exciting to experience it as an outsider, a visitor. The rhythm of this area is absolutely incredible.
My husband and I, and our two boys ages 6 and 8, spent 5 days hopping from the California Adventure Theme Park to Disneyland and back. Our hotel was about a half mile from the park entrance and we walked along a street that had 6 lanes of traffic; not a freeway, a regular avenue. Each city block along this street was the equivalent of about 2 of our city blocks. The cars would race from stoplight to stoplight going 50+ mph. As we walked along, we noticed the speed limit signs said 35 mph. No one here drives slow! Needless to say, I have a better understanding of the California drivers here in Spokane. I get it now. You have to drive that way in LA or you won't ever get anywhere!
And it just wouldn’t be right if I didn’t brag a little! I’m so proud of my boys who went on the scariest of scary rides in the park…with their dad! I discovered that my days of looping roller coasters are a thing of the past, and I am completely OK with that. I’ve been there, done that, and got the T-shirt. I was just excited to see my boys not shying away from the call of adventure, fear, and excitement. They took on the California Screamer, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Space Mountain and came out grinning. We all did the other rides in the parks and had a blast. It is a magical place. And one last item to note is the World of Color water, laser, light show put on in the California Adventure Park. The audience was held in awe as music, lights, lasers, fire, and water were perfectly coordinated in an amazing show.
I will definitely plan a trip to California again in the future. California often times gets a bad rap. As such, I didn't have very many expectations of how nice it would or could be. I am happy to say that California is an amazing place. It's energy, diversity, and opportunity for vacationing is unlimited. I'd highly recommend a trip, you won't be disappointed!

"My husband and I could not be happier with our choice to use Jessica as our realtor. We started the process quite a few months ago when we finally decided that we were going to call Spokane our home. Being new to the area, we weren't very familiar with all of the areas. Not a problem. Jessica was very knowledgeable on all of the areas here. She took the time to get to know us personally, and see what the best fit for us would be. She showed us many homes, and put up with our indecisiveness.
All that being said, we just recently purchased the PERFECT home for us! Jessica being there for us the whole way. No complaints. Weekends, working around our busy schedules...the works.
I highly recommend her for all of your real estate needs."
